The eulogy
The Critic stands at the rostrum in a black hoodie. Behind him, the obituary card: Vibes Inc., 2024 – 2025, $3.2M raised, shut down quietly in March.
"I told you. I wrote it in a Substack in October. Four thousand two hundred words. Nobody read it. Now the founder is on LinkedIn announcing 'lessons learned.'"
He reads two paragraphs of the LinkedIn post out loud. The studio plays a single sad trumpet note. He continues.
What the Oracle replays
The Oracle queues up the LRS the channel would have given Vibes Inc. on the day they incorporated:
- Demand 9 / 35 — no one searches for "team mood platform"; manager surveys are not a vertical
- Pain 18 / 30 — the pain exists, but the diagnosis is wrong; managers don't want a new dashboard, they want fewer meetings
- Competition 21 / 24 — the entire HR-tech stack is crowded, Culture Amp / Lattice / 15Five all have free tiers
- Money 4 / 20 — buyers are HR ops; budget signed by someone three levels above, never in time
- Funding 9 / 10 — venture money was hot here, which is exactly why the bar was higher
- Urgency 1 / 10 — no regulatory trigger, no compliance hook, no platform shift

The Critic vs the Oracle
The Critic claims credit. The Oracle reads his October post line by line and notes the four things he got wrong:
- He blamed "soft metrics" — the issue was distribution, not metrics
- He predicted a 6-month runway — they made it 14
- He named the wrong competitor as the killer (it was Lattice's free tier, not Culture Amp's enterprise sale)
- He missed the upside — a vertical pivot to nursing-shift mood would have hit a real wedge
The Critic folds his arms and admits two of four. We air both halves.

What happens next
The footage of Vibes Inc.'s seed announcement goes into the Vault. Their founder appears as guest on the next Critic episode and disagrees with two of the witness readings. We air the disagreement uncut.
